2025 1st quarter training Back to Basics of Fire Investigations

The S.C. Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (SCIAAI) and the South Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) proudly announce the 2025 1st Quarter Training Seminar. Bobby Henderson, Southwest regional fire operation manager of NEFCO Fire Investigations, will instruct. He is a Certified Fire Investigator by the International Association of Arson Investigators. Mr. Henderson has attended the Commonwealth of Virginia Fire Marshal's Academy, the National Fire Academy, and he is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. Mr. Henderson is a court-qualified expert witness who served over 30 years as a professional police officer for the Fairfax County Police and Virginia State Police. He was a Certified Bomb Technician by the FBI/US ARMY Hazardous Devices School, a Certified Hazardous Materials Technician by the Department of Homeland Security, and a licensed private investigator in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mr. Henderson is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and director of the Virginia Chapter. This course will review NFPA 1033, 2022 edition, from cover to cover.  Participants will review all the new standards and changes from the 2014 Edition. The course will provide case studies as they pertain to the Job Performance Requirements (JPRs) for the Fire Investigator.   • This training is scheduled for a minimum of 8 contact hours. Furthermore, testing options will be discussed at the training event. 
  • Training is free for SCIAAI and IASIU members, but there will be a $50. Pre-registration is required for nonmembers. 
  • Register online at www.sciaai.org. The cut-off date for registration is Monday, February 3, 2025. 
  • Nonmember attendance must be preapproved by the SCIAAI Board. Pending applicants are to pay a "Member fee" to attend. Those wishing to apply for SCIAAI membership can download an application from the website at www.sciaai.org
