The S.C. Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (SCIAAI) is proud to announce the 2nd quarter training for 2021.
The program topics include NFPA 921, 2021 Edition, Chapter 15, “Planning the Investigation,” and Chapter 16, “Documentation of the Investigation.” The instructor, will be IAAI Past-President Barry M. Grimm.
The course will focus on interview and interrogation techniques. Topics to be dispersed:
1: Describe common arson motives
2: Identify the relationships that may exist between certain motives and certain types of fires.
3: List the steps of the IRONIC interviewing method.
4: Identify the appropriate steps for preparing and conducting an effective interview
5: Identify available resources to assist in conducting interviews and interrogations
This course is designed to benefit the beginner and seasoned investigators from start to finish. The seminar will cover 16 hours of training related to basic information and procedures, and will prepare students to conduct complete and accurate interviews.
Information gained from this course will be related to NFPA 1033 and NFPA 921.
This training is scheduled for a minimum of 16 contact hours. Testing options will be discussed at the training event. Member attendance Fee is $30.00 and non-member attendance fee is $150.00. Lunch will not be provided.
