The S.C. Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (SCIAAI) is proud to announce the 2020 3nd quarterly one-day seminar. The program topics will include: Chapter 29 of NFPA-921 MANAGEMENT OF COMPLEX INVESTIGATIONS and addresses those issues faced by both public and private Fire Investigators. Complex investigations can come about due to the size, scope, and/or duration of an investigation from a fire or explosion. The instructors of the course will be Michael R. Roarty and SCIAAI 1st Vice President Jonathan G. Byers, Jr.
A complex investigation may involve a significant number of public and private fire investigators who are representing a large number of interested parties. The fire/explosion may involve multiple injuries, fatalities, involve multiple buildings, high rises, large complexes or industrial facilities. The program is to provide information and tools to the Fire Investigator to organize and manage a complex investigation, which is also the function of coordinating with interested parties to participate in the process of the investigation. The goal in any complex investigation is to properly plan and coordinate so that all interested parties can effectively and safely complete their investigations as well as identify, collect, and preserve evidence for future examinations and legal actions.
