The S.C. Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (SCIAAI) is proud to announce the three-day Fire Investigation Course for 2020. The program topics will include: NFPA 921, NFPA 1033, Fire Investigations, Fire Effects, Fire Patterns, Fire Chemistry, Fire Dynamics, and Fire Analysis.

Jim Pharr will be the instructor for this seminar. Mr. Pharr is an Assistant Professor in the Fire and Safety Engineering Program at Eastern Kentucky University. With more than 30 years in the fire service, Mr. Pharr retired in 2006 after serving as fire fighter, investigator, fire chief, fire marshal and emergency management director in multiple North Carolina counties. His teaching experience includes both training and education delivery for over 30 years with community colleges in North Carolina. He holds an AAS in Fire Science, a BS in Fire and Safety Engineering, an MS in Fire Service Leadership, and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program.

Mr. Pharr recommends all attendees review or complete the following courses on CFITrainer.net before attending this training: Fire Flow Analysis, Introduction to Fire Dynamics and Fire Modeling, Thermometry and Heat Transfer.

            This training is scheduled for a minimum of 24 contact hours. Testing options will be discussed at the training event. This will be a hands-on course and burn pods will be used. Students most bring their safety equipment to include respirators, boots, eyewear, and gloves. Member attendance fee is Free and non-member attendance fee is $100. Lunch is on your own.

Pre-registration is required: The cutoff date for registration is Friday May 15, 2020. Non-member attendance must be pre-approved by the SCIAAI Board. Pending applicants pay “member fee” to attend. Those wishing to apply for SCIAAI membership can download an application from the website at www.sciaai.org.
