are hosting the following training opportunity:
Advanced Fire Death Investigation
This two-day class will take an intensive look at Fire Death Scene Investigations from A-Z. This class will start out with a refresher of the basics of
fire death scenes to include the following topics:
- Who Dies in Fires, and Why
- Victimology and Causal Factors
- Who is Who at the fire death scene
- How to Process a fire death scene
- Fire Effects on the human body
The second portion of the course moves into larger and more complicated cases to include:
- Fire Deaths in Vehicles
- Mass casualty events
- Fire related suicides
- Body Dump Arsons
- SWAT related fire death scenes
- Coroner and M.E. issues at fire death scenes
Dates: January 22-23, 2020 Time: 0800-1700 both days
Location: Charlotte Fire and Police Training Academy

· Lunch will be provided both days. Please advise if you have any dietary issues and we will try to accommodate you.
· You will have the option to take a test for 16 hours of tested instruction.

Instructors
Ed Nordskog
Ed is a retired Los Angeles Sheriff who spent the past 21 years as a senior Detective on the Arson-Explosives Detail. He has conducted 2,100 arson investigations and testified over 95 times in arson cases. He is the author of 5 books on arson related issues. He has handled over 70 fire death scenes and advised other agencies on an additional 50 cases.

Joe Konefal
Joe is a retired Supervising Arson Investigator/Bomb Tech with the California State Fire Marshal. He has conducted 800 arson and bomb investigations and testified dozens of times in court related to arson. He has handled over 60 fire fatality scenes. He is a past instructor for several years at the Forensic Fire Death Investigation Course, and is the Lead Instructor for California State POST Arson-Explosives and Homicide courses.
